Charlie Wagstaff Policies

  1. Booking and drop off

    1. The customer must fully complete the registration form and return to Charlie Wagstaff to secure booking.

    2. Charlie Wagstaff do not normally provide transportation except in the event of an emergency i.e. taking a dog to the vets.  If this is the case the dog will be transported on the back seat of the car with the lead/harness secured to a dog safety belt.

    3. The customer must drop off the dog(s) in a clean condition with up-to-date vaccinations and anti-worming treatment.

    4. The customer will supply all meals and treats if required.

    5. Operating hours for drop off and pick up are 8.00am to 6.00pm unless otherwise agreed.

    6. A deposit of 25% must be paid on booking to secure dates for boarding dogs and remaining balance must be paid on or before dropping off.  Daycare payments are made on drop off or pick up times each day.

    7. Boarding deposits are non-refundable, unless Charlie Wagstaff need to cancel your booking.

  2. Aggressive Animals

    1. Charlie Wagstaff do not accept aggressive animals or un-spayed bitches as there is a male dog (castrated) in the household.

    2. The customer agrees to be responsible for all costs if the customer’s dog bites another animal.

    3. The customer agrees on booking that the dog(s) have not shown aggression or harm to any other dog or individual.

    4.  Charlie Wagstaff will not board/offer day care to any breed of dog listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

    5. If the dog shows aggression towards other dogs or individual in the household to the point it becomes unacceptable the customer agrees they will pick up the dog, it will be picked up by emergency contact or arrangements for kennelling will be arranged.

  3. Unforeseen circumstances

    1. In the event additional items need to be purchased in the absence of the customer i.e. pet food etc for the welfare of the dog, Charlie Wagstaff will purchase these, and the customer will reimburse on the collection of their dogs.

    2. The risk of escape is limited as the dog(s) will have access to a large fully enclosed garden and will only be walked on lead unless express consent is given by the boarding dog owner and recall is vetted.  However, in the event of escape all available members of the household would search for the dog, the owner would be informed immediately, and the dog warden and licencing team would also be notified.

    3. In the event of the dog becoming ill or needing to see the vet the owner will be contacted where possible before taking the dog to the vet.  Ideally the customer or emergency contact will take the dog to the vets, however if this is not possible Charlie Wagstaff will take the dog to the vets safely in a pet Uber/car as above.  Any charges incurred will be the responsibility of the customer.

    4. In the event of death, we would contact the owner, emergency contact and the dog’s vet immediately.  We would treat the body in a humane manner and ensure it was kept isolated until further instruction from the owner, vet or emergency contact.

  4. Updates

    1. The customer will inform Charlie Wagstaff of any changes to contact numbers, pet care needs, behaviour etc before dropping off.

  5. Privacy Policy

    1. All your information will be kept private and confidential.

    2. Records will be stored securely in compliance with the Data Protection Act.

  6. Insurance

    1. Customers should have their own pet insurance.

    2. Charlie Wagstaff has appropriate commercial day care and boarding insurance.

  7. Medication / Vaccination

    1. Charlie Wagstaff will follow instructions to administer medicines but cannot be held responsible for complications that arise as a result.

    2. We require a copy of a valid vaccination certificate.

    3. We require all dogs to be up to date with de-flea and de-worming.

  8. Equipment / Feeding

    1. The customer should deliver the dog(s) with collar, id tag and lead.

    2. The customer should provide any home comforts such as toys, bedding and bowls.

    3. The customer will provide all dog food and treats the entire stay.  No other food will be given to boarding dogs (cheese and homemade treats may be given to day care dogs).  If the food runs out Charlie Wagstaff will buy the same or the closest possible food until the owners return and invoice the customer for reimbursement.

    4. Charlie Wagstaff will follow the routine agreed in the registration form for feeding times.

    5. Dogs will be fed separately to avoid food guarding.

  9. Changes to return date/times

    1. Charlie Wagstaff will make every effort to be flexible for late / early drop off and collection if pre-agreed.

    2. Operating hours are strictly 8am – 6pm. Early collection/late drop off will not result in a refund and late collection may incur additional charges which are £5 per 15 minutes. 

  10. Hygiene

    1. Charlie Wagstaff will provide a hygienic, home environment, always.  All areas of the house are vacuumed, hard floors mopped, and surfaces cleaned daily with dog friendly multi-Surface spray where applicable.

    2. Dog bowls, toys etc are cleaned daily.

    3. Dog beds are washed and dried between different daycare dogs and boarders and every time they are soiled.

    4. Water bowls are refreshed and cleaned on a regular basis.

    5. Dog mess in the garden is picked up promptly, at least daily.

    6. In the event of an infectious disease being identified in day care, boarded or resident dog a secure isolated environment will be provided for each animal. The resident dog will be isolated in the kitchen and the customers dog will be isolated in the designated dog room.  Charlie Wagstaff will then contact the owner and vet to discuss next steps.  Following this a deep clean of all areas of the home will be undertaken and no new day care dogs or boarders will be allowed for a minimum of 48 hours.

  11. New Customer and dogs under 12 months

    1. Any new customer is welcome to visit prior to booking to look at the suitability of the environment for their dog.

    2. Any dog under 12 months old will not be accepted for day care or boarding unless otherwise agreed by Charlie Wagstaff.

  12. Payment

    1. Charlie Wagstaff dogs accept bank transfers and cash and card payments.

    2. A 25% deposit is payable at booking for boarding which is non-refundable unless the booking is cancelled by Charlie Wagstaff.

    3. The remaining balance should be paid before or at drop off.

    4. Charges for day care are £20 per half day and £32.50 per full day. Charges for boarding are £40 per night, £120 for 3 nights and £250 per week or £475 per fortnight.  The trial 1 night stay for dogs staying for 7 nights or more will be charged at £40.

    5. A 25% discount is given for 2nd or 3rd dogs from same household for boarding with Charlie Wagstaff. 

    6. Rates will be reviewed annually, and the website will be updates with any price increases.  Prices quoted for boarding dogs will be the price stated at time of booking and deposit payment. Regular day care customers will be informed in advance of any increase.

  13. Liability

    1. Charlie Wagstaff shall not be liable to the customer or be deemed in breach of the contract by reason of any delay in performing, or failing to perform, any of its obligation in relation to services, if the delay or failure was due to any cause beyond our control.

  14. Emergency Procedures / Infection Control

    1. In the event of an emergency; fire, lack of heating, water etc, the customer will be contacted, and alternative boarding/day care arrangements will be agreed.

    2. In the unlikely event a fatal injury occurs with a dog the customer will be contacted immediately, and next steps will be agreed.

  15. Risk to dogs, their family, other animals and property

    1. Charlie Wagstaff dog’s environment has no children residing at the property.

    2. All dogs are always supervised by an adult when any children are visiting the property.

    3. In the event of aggressive behaviour dog(s) will be isolated from other dogs.  If behaviour continues the emergency contact / owner will be contacted to arrange collection.

    4. If a dog causes damage to home / property, the customer may be liable for expenses.

  16. Enrichment, Walking and Training

    1. Dogs will be exercised for a minimum of 30 minutes (normally 45 minutes) twice a day or longer should this be normal routine for the dog. If this is excessive for a dog in our care (elderly dogs) the dog may be left with a member of staff or household for this period whilst the other dogs are walked.  The owner should inform Charlie Wagstaff if 2 x walks per day are not required, and this will be noted on the dog’s record.

    2. Staff/family members will interact appropriately with the dog and provide care and stimulation throughout the day.

    3. Children will not be left alone with the dog(s).

    4. The owner of Charlie Wagstaff has 30+ year experience as a dog owner and can effectively handle dogs and recognise any unexpected or unusual behaviours.  The owner and any staff have completed training including a CPD approved course in Dog Walking and First Aid.  The owner is also studying towards a level 3 Canine welfare and commercial day care qualification. Any identified training needs that are established will be addressed at earliest possible convenience.
